Guiding Your Birth Journey

Welcome to Moss and Moon Doula Care!

My name is Elsa, and I’m a birth and postpartum doula serving the Twin Cities Metro Area. I’ve been a certified birth doula since 2012 through DONA International, and this year I became certified Birth Arts International as a birth and postpartum doula.

I believe the transition into parenthood is sacred, life-changing, and deeply transformational. Motherhood begins long before your baby arrives, and it keeps unfolding long after. It reshapes your identity with fierce tenderness and new daily rhythms. The strength, instinct, and quiet wisdom you draw on in labor and birth are the same wells that will sustain you in the weeks that follow. I trust your body and your intuition, and I’m here to help you trust them too.

The early weeks with a new baby are tender, beautiful, and exhausting, sometimes all in the same hour. As your postpartum doula, I’m here to care for you so you can care for your baby. Your recovery matters just as much as your baby’s first days.

Here’s what that can look like:

  • Feeding support: Breastfeeding, pumping, bottles, or a combination, with encouragement and practical help.

  • Newborn care: Soothing, swaddling, diapering, feeding, and sleep routines, so you feel confident with your baby.

  • Recovery and rest: Gentle check-ins on how you’re healing and how you’re feeling, plus space to sleep, shower, and eat well.

  • Emotional support: A listening ear, free of judgment, as you adjust to your new role and a changing family.

  • Help at home: Nourishing meals, light tidying, and practical tasks that give you time to rest.

  • Care for your whole family: Partners and siblings are welcome in this support, too.

I’ll also help you know when to reach out to your medical provider, so you always feel connected to the care you need, or share referrals or resources for different supports if needed.

Birth support, too

If you’re looking for support during pregnancy and labor, I’d love to be there for you as well. I’ll be with you from start to finish, available to guide your partner, and we’ll prepare practically and emotionally for the changes ahead. My support doesn’t end at delivery. I’m here to help you step into parenthood with compassion, useful tools, and gentle encouragement, so you can have the birth and early postpartum experience you envision for yourself and your baby.

Why I Do What I Do

I believe every family deserves compassionate, evidence-based support during pregnancy, birth, and the quiet weeks that follow. I believe in the power of having support and community to help you welcome your baby, to help with your transition to motherhood, sibling integration and more. What I love about doula work is that it can be found in numerous texts throughout history and has been a part of humanity since ancient civilizations and doulas continue this work now.

Supporting birthing women and in the delicate weeks postpartum, holding space for them in gentle, grounding, calming ways is my approach. You bleed, feed, heal and transform. I feel we often forget about the woman once the baby is born and that transitioning to motherhood has its own set of challenges and adjustments. From taking care of some of the tasks that keep your home running like laundry, kitchen reset, laundry and meal prep, to protecting your rest, watching the baby so you can shower or take a hot bath, I’m here to be that support.

I would love to be a part of your journey and provide day or overnight postpartum packages.
